Is Chat XP free?
Yes. Chat XP is free to add and use. An optional Premium plan unlocks extra features: Raids (double-XP events), Bring Your Own Roles (use your existing server roles for tiers), and admin member controls.
How do members earn XP?
Members earn a small amount of XP when they send a message. Earning is rate-limited, so spamming does not help. XP adds up to a total, and when the total is high enough the member goes up a level.
What are tier roles?
Each level range gives one colored role, from Common up to Legendary. A member holds one tier role at a time, so their name color shows their rank and the member list groups your most active members near the top.
Do I need to set anything up?
No. Leveling starts as soon as you add the bot, and everyone reaches the first tier on their first message. You can change tiers, quests, and other settings later from the web dashboard, with no commands to learn.
What permissions does the bot need?
Manage Roles, View Channels, Send Messages, Embed Links, and Read Message History. The bot must be able to view a channel to give XP there. It uses non-privileged permissions only.
Does the bot read my messages?
No. Chat XP never reads the content of your messages and does not read your member list. It only needs to know that a message was sent, so it stays privacy-friendly by design.
Is Chat XP a good MEE6 alternative?
Yes. Chat XP covers the core of a leveling bot: XP, levels, and automatic colored roles, plus daily quests, a leaderboard, and activity charts, all set up from a web dashboard with a free plan.
What are quests?
Quests are small daily tasks that give bonus XP. They are tracked automatically from normal activity, with nothing to submit. The bonus XP feeds a member’s level and tier, just like chat XP. Some quests unlock at higher levels.
What are raids?
A raid is a Premium event: one channel earns double XP for two hours. You can start one when you want a buzz, or schedule it every week. A server can run up to two raids per week.
How do I add Chat XP to my server?
Click “Add to Discord” on the homepage and choose your server. You need the Manage Server permission on that server. Leveling begins right away, with no further setup.
